Founded in 1677, The John Roan is one of the oldest state schools in the country, with a rich and distinguished past. The John Roan has been dedicated to serving the community of Greenwich for more than 335 years and now, with an exciting modern building at Westcombe Park and a fully redeveloped facility at Maze Hill, overlooking Greenwich Park, we are perfectly placed to deliver the highest standards of education into the 21st century.
The John Roan family is a learning community that involves all groups of parents, has strong links with the local area and values its key role in the local community.
Our students are encouraged to develop a strong pride in being at The John Roan and to grow and develop over their 7 years with us. Our rich and exciting curriculum stimulates their interests and offers a broad education for all.
We want our students to be the very best that they can be. We therefore pledge to provide a rich and deep education such that every student is able to make excellent progress, whatever their starting point may be.
Our founder, John Roan, bequeathed his estate to educate the town-born children of Greenwich. We are proud of our history and excited about our future.
